Welcome to AFO – Houston's premier historical fencing school, where the art of the sword comes to life. Founded by Tim Guerinot, a seasoned fencing enthusiast with a passion for the sport since 1998, AFO stands as a testament to dedication and expertise in the realm of historical fencing.

 Tim's journey in fencing began in Modern Olympic Fencing, specializing in Saber. With remarkable dedication, he swiftly ascended to compete at the Division I level, achieving recognition as a TOP 8 finalist at the Summer National Championships in 2004. Throughout his competitive career, Tim honed his skills under the guidance of renowned Olympic saber coaches, including Ahki Spencer El and Oleksii Ivanov.

 In 2013, Tim's path led him to the world of historical fencing, igniting a newfound passion. Delving into rapier treatises from masters such as Salvador Fabris and Francesco Marcelli, Tim's pursuit of knowledge continued unabated. Even during the pandemic, he furthered his expertise by completing the level I&II track in Epee offered by Global Fencing Masters (GFM) and continued his modern epee studies with esteemed mentors.

 At AFO, we offer a diverse array of historical fencing classes and private lessons tailored to all skill levels. From rapier to Rapier & Dagger, Rapier & buckler, Rotella, cape, and Smallsword, our curriculum encompasses a wide range of styles. We are also dedicated to nurturing the next generation of swordsmen and women through our children's fencing class.
